Circle FAQ: questions shop owners ask

Answers about pricing, working offline, Arabic, devices, data, credit, VAT and support, written for the Circle versions in the stores today.

Basics and pricing

What is Circle?
Circle (also called Circle Business) is a free inventory, sales and point-of-sale (POS) app for shops and small businesses. You track stock, make sales, record customer credit and see your profit from your phone, in Arabic or English. It is made by DcodZ, a software company in Giza, Egypt.
Is Circle really free?
Yes. Circle is free to download and use today: no subscription and no credit card, and every feature described on this site is included. If optional paid features for larger businesses are ever added, they will be announced in the app and on this site.
Which phones and tablets does Circle run on?
Circle is a mobile app for Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store), on phones and tablets including iPad. Download it here.
Is Circle available in Arabic?
Yes. Circle is fully right-to-left in Arabic and fully available in English, and you switch between them with one tap. Receipts, reports and screens follow the language you choose.
Can I try Circle without signing up?
Yes. Open the app and tap “See your demo store — ready in seconds” on the welcome screen. You get a demo shop with sample products to try, with no sign-up.
Which countries and currencies does Circle support?
10 countries and 11 currencies: Egyptian pound (EGP), Saudi riyal (SAR), UAE dirham (AED), Kuwaiti dinar (KWD), Bahraini dinar (BHD), Qatari riyal (QAR), Omani rial (OMR), Jordanian dinar (JOD), Iraqi dinar (IQD), Lebanese pound (LBP) and US dollar (USD).

Selling and stock

Does Circle work without internet?
Yes, for selling. If the internet drops you can keep making sales; they are saved on your phone and sync automatically when you are back online. You need a connection to sign in, to record purchases, to make returns and to adjust stock.
Can I scan barcodes?
Yes. Scan a product’s barcode with your phone camera when you add products and when you sell, and the product opens straight away. Circle stops you from giving two products in the same store the same barcode.
How do returns work?
Open the sale, choose the items to return and refund the cash or reduce the customer’s balance; the stock goes back automatically. Returns need an internet connection.
Can I print or share receipts?
Yes. Every sale has a receipt with your shop name, address and tax number. You can send it as an image on WhatsApp or print it, any time.
Does Circle support discounts at checkout?
Not in the current store versions. Discount at checkout is coming in the next update, which is in store review now.
Can I manage several branches in one account?
Not yet. Circle is built for one shop per account today, and multiple branches with stock transfer are not supported.

Customer credit, reports and tax

Can Circle track customer credit and debts?
Yes. Sell on credit and Circle keeps each customer’s balance, credit limit and unpaid invoices, stops a sale that goes over the limit, and shows debts by age (0–30, 31–60, 61–90 and 90+ days). You record payments per invoice. Recording one payment on the customer’s whole account, applied to the oldest invoices first, is coming in the next update (in store review now).
What reports does Circle give me?
A dashboard with today’s sales, profit, expenses, inventory value, receivables and payables; sales and profit for any date range; top sellers; an expenses report; a credit overview and a debt aging report.
Does Circle handle VAT? Is it certified for e-invoicing?
Circle handles VAT on your receipts: set your rate, choose inclusive or exclusive prices, show your tax number and the VAT lines on every receipt, and see VAT collected in your reports. It is not an e-invoicing system and it is not certified by ZATCA (Saudi Arabia), the ETA (Egypt) or the FTA (UAE). If your business must issue electronic invoices, use an approved e-invoicing system alongside Circle.
Can I export my data to Excel?
Yes. You can export your products and your sales to a CSV file that opens in Excel, for example to send to your accountant.

Data, devices and support

Is my data safe, and where is it stored?
Your data is stored on our cloud servers, sent over an encrypted connection (TLS), and each business can only see its own data.
Do I need to back up my data?
There is no manual backup to run: your records are stored in the cloud, not only on your phone. If you lose or change your phone, sign in on the new one and your records are there. You can also export products and sales to CSV at any time.
Can I use one account on several devices, or give my cashier a login?
Each business has a single login, and separate staff or cashier accounts are not available yet. New accounts are limited to one device at a time. If you change phones, your records stay in the cloud; message us on WhatsApp if you have trouble signing in on the new phone.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app, go to Settings › Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and business data. You can also request deletion here.
How do I get support?
Message us on WhatsApp +20 111 190 4091 or email info@dcodz.com. An in-app support chat is coming in the next update.
How is Circle different from Daftra, Loyverse, Qoyod or Odoo?
Circle is a free, Arabic-first, phone-only inventory and POS app for small shops. The others are broader (accounting, e-invoicing, multi-store, ERP) and most have paid plans. See the side-by-side comparison.
What is coming in the next update?
The next versions (Android 1.0.19 and iOS 1.3, in store review now) add discount at checkout, setting the sale and purchase date, recording owner drawings, recording a payment on a customer’s whole account, in-app support chat, and one-device sign-in for new accounts.
