Looking for a cashier app that does not need an expensive terminal, a monthly subscription or a technician? Circle is a free cashier app (a point-of-sale, or POS, app) that runs on the phone or tablet you already own. It works in Arabic and English, and it keeps your sales, stock, customer credit and daily profit in one place. Download it on Android or iPhone and make your first sale in a few minutes.
What does a cashier app do, and what does Circle do?
A cashier app is the screen where every sale is recorded: you pick the product, set the quantity, take the payment and give the customer a receipt. In Circle that screen is called Quick Sale. Search for a product by name or scan its barcode, and it goes into the cart. Before you finish the sale you see the subtotal, VAT if you use it, the total and your profit on that sale. When you tap Complete Sale, stock goes down automatically and today’s numbers update straight away.
Can a phone replace a cashier machine?
For most small shops, yes. You do not need a computer or a dedicated touch screen. Circle runs on Android phones and tablets, on iPhone and on iPad. Many shop owners keep one phone at the counter and use the same account to check stock and reports when they are away. Your data lives in the cloud, so changing or losing the phone does not mean losing your records.
Does it work without internet?
Yes, for selling. If the connection drops, a banner tells you that you are offline and you keep selling. Sales are saved on the device and sent automatically when the internet returns, and you can follow each one in your sales history. You do need a connection to sign in, to record purchases and returns, and to adjust stock, so sync your pending sales before you delete the app or sign out.
How does barcode scanning work?
Point your phone camera at a product’s barcode, both when you add the product and when you sell it. The product opens at once, with no separate scanner to buy. Circle stops you from giving two products in the same store the same barcode, which avoids the classic mix-ups at the counter. If a product has no barcode, search for it by name.
Which payment methods can I record, and what about receipts?
Record each sale as cash, card, transfer, a mobile wallet such as InstaPay, Vodafone Cash or STC Pay, or on credit. Every sale has a receipt with your shop name, logo, address and tax number, plus VAT lines if you turn VAT on. Send it to the customer as an image on WhatsApp, share it as text, or print it from the sale details screen using your phone’s print option. Printing depends on what your phone supports, so if it is not available, sharing always works.
Can I sell on credit and replace the debt notebook?
Yes. Choose Credit as the payment method, pick the customer and enter what they paid now. The rest goes on their account. Set a credit limit per customer and Circle stops a sale that goes over it. Each customer page shows the balance and the unpaid invoices, and you record every payment against the invoice it settles. The credit overview and the aging report group debts into 0–30, 31–60, 61–90 and 90+ days, so you know exactly who to call first. See also our guide to accounting for small shops.
How do I know what is running out?
Every sale and every purchase updates quantities automatically. Give each product a low-stock level and Circle flags it on the dashboard and in the low-stock report, and it can send you a phone alert after a sale. If something is damaged, expired or lost, record a stock adjustment with the reason, and open any product to see its full movement history.
What reports does the cashier app give me?
The dashboard shows today’s sales, profit and low stock. In Reports, choose today, this week, this month or a custom range to see total sales, returns, gross profit, net profit after expenses, VAT collected, your top-selling products, and the value of your inventory at cost. You can export your sales and products to CSV and open them in Excel.
Can I have separate cashier logins or several branches?
Not yet, and we prefer to tell you now. Each business has one owner login, and one store per account. New accounts work on one device at a time. If you need staff accounts or branches, message us on WhatsApp and we will note your request; we do not promise a date.
Paper notebook, Excel or Circle?
Paper notebook
Cheap and familiar, but it cannot tell you what is in stock, it cannot add up your profit, and one lost notebook is a lost business. Debts are only as accurate as the last time someone wrote them down.
Excel
Powerful, but it was not built for a counter. Typing a sale into a sheet is slow, nothing updates stock by itself, there is no barcode scanning, and it is awkward on a phone.
Circle
A sale takes a few taps, stock and profit update by themselves, customer balances are tracked for you, it works on your phone, and your data is backed by the cloud. You can still export to Excel whenever your accountant asks. For a side-by-side look at other apps, see our comparison page.
Which shops use it?
Circle suits any single-location shop that sells physical products: groceries and mini-markets, mobile phone and accessories shops, clothing and shoe stores, perfume and cosmetics shops, home appliance and hardware stores, car spare parts and stationery shops. If you run several branches in one account, or need staff logins, Circle is not the right fit yet.
Is it really free?
Yes. Circle is free to download and use, with no subscription, no credit card and no features locked behind a premium plan. Everything described on this page is included today, and features you already use will not be taken away.
